Thought I would drop a quick update from Spain. Training for Worlds is going well. The Canadian athletes seem to be adjusting quickly to the course and everyone is paddling well. The ICF C1W camp went better than anyone expected. There were 20 boats in the camp and 9 more are registered for the race!!!
As usual, it is hot though we were lucky enough to have a cool day today. The area around La Seu De Urgell is beautiful and the people are very pleasant. I had a chance to go for a run up to a church on the side of a mountain overlooking the valley and the town. I was actually getting ready for the International Coaches Run competition this Friday but it was nice to take some time to see such a beautiful place.
On Monday night we all headed into Seu for the Fire Festival which happens every year. We were not really sure what to expect but people had hinted it was a must see. Having been now, I recommend this event to EVERYONE!!! I have never been so scared and excited at the same time. It is hard and wuld take too long to explain so Canadian Team member Ben Hayward put together a video of some of some of the action. See below:)
